On Gatzet.com I used to write multiple posts at once and gradually publishing those post using scheduled posting feature on WordPress. I thought it was working fine, until I realized that the WordPress is by default pinging to ping service each time it does auto save or you pressed save and continue editing.

The default WordPress ping also ping to major ping service such as pingomatic when you save a post for a scheduled posting. The least negative effect of this flaws is confusing the bots when they visits your blog because it has received a ping. I know this problem when checking error log on my adsense member panel. The error has indicated that adsense bot couldn’t find the post which I’ve scheduled to publish on the next 10 hours. It means the wordpress’ ping has announced the new url, but actually the new post is still hidden.
The worst scenario if you create a lot of scheduled posting for several days ahead and the default ping mechanism does multiple pinging of your new posts immediately, it could make your blog got banned from ping service.
Fortunately, there is a wordpress plugin to fix the flaws. By activating MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer, your wordpress won’t ping when you edit an old post, saving and continue editing, or when you create a scheduled posting.
The plugin only allows a ping for a newly published post or a scheduled post when it has published.
If you still using default wordpress ping mechanism, I suggest to add MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer and save your blog from getting banned by major ping service.
