Well today is the last day of SEOcontest2008. I’ve give everything I could to increase the rank of my page on Google SERP but my page still on the 9th position. However due to the very nature of my single page which is considered as a static page, it’s on-page optimization has reached maximum in my opinion.

Google always insisted that their Search engine algorithm has been designed to display the most relevant result of the keyword searched by the user. Therefore most webmaster believe that they must optimizing their page to include all intended keyword within the page in order to show their page on the first position of Google Search result page. In other word we must do SEO on our page.

Currently Google doesn’t like link buying activity in order to improve page rank. Google will penalize any site which caught selling links or buying massive number of backlink for Page Rank. This policy suddenly changed the world of paid reviews, from clearly disclosing the nature of paid review to a subtle indication.

It’s been almost 2 week since I jumped into a SEOcontest with this blog. The time is getting closer to the decision line but I also see many interesting facts related with this competition.

I’m not SEO guru or master SEO therefore I wasn’t quiet understand with some SEO jargon such as Google Dance or Google Sandbox. Now by following the competition, I began to understand how to optimize a site for the search engine crawler and also how they treated a new page on their indexing system.

Optimizing seocontest2008 is like walking in the dark while we’re trying to follow a path but we couldn’t see the line clearly. SEO seemingly had the similar nature. Even though the main direction has been clearly expressed by the Internet authority a.k.a Google, we still cannot predict the result of our seo effort.
