“Cash for Refrigerators” or “Cash for Appliances” is a federal program to boost sales of energy-efficient home appliances provides a glimmer of hope for beleaguered makers of washing machines and dishwashers. The stimulus federal program will provide rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases of high-efficiency household appliances. Unlike the clunkers program, buyers will not have to trade in their old appliances. Appliances purchased under the program must bear the Energy Star seal to qualify for the rebates

“These rebates will help families make the transition to more efficient appliances, making purchases that will directly stimulate the economy,” Energy Secretary Steven Chu said in a statement announcing the plan. Only appliances covered by the Energy Star seal will qualify. In 2008, about 55% of newly produced major household appliances met those standards, which are set by the Energy Dept. and Environmental Protection Agency.

The money can’t come soon enough for the home appliance industry, which is mired in an unprecedented sales slump that began when the housing market cooled in 2006. Since then that slump has worsened considerably.

Mamiek menceritakan, dia sempat dipanggil kerabatnya agar masuk ke dalam karena didapati kondisi Mbah Surip tengah meracau ‘I Love You Full’ dengan mulut mengeluarkan air liur.

Berbagai kemungkinan menjadi penyebab meninggalnya Mbah Surip. Salah satunya karena serangan jantung. Namun hal itu belum dibuktikan karena jenazah pelantun lagu ‘Tak Gendong’ itu rupanya tidak jadi diotopsi.

“Tidak dilakukan otopsi karena otopsi permintaan keluarga,” kata dr Satyaningtyas, dokter yang menangani Mbah Surip saat dibawa ke RS Pusdikkes, Jakarta Timur, Selasa (4/8/2009).

Satyaningtyas mengatakan, selain jantung, kemungkinan lain penyebab penyanyi nyentrik itu meninggal adalah dehidrasi. Hal itu karena Mbah Surip sempat mengalami diare.

“Menurut cerita Mas Mamiek (Mamiek Prakoso Srimulat), semalam Mbah Surip sempat diare, kecapekan tapi nggak mau dibawa ke rumah sakit,” kata Satyaningtyas.

Mbah Surip meninggal pukul 10.30 WIB setelah sempat dilarikan ke rumah sakit. Saat tiba di rumah sakit, mulut Mbah Surip berbusa.
